Columbia County Sheriffs Office

From its own E911 Communications Center, staffed around the clock, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in Georgia takes TTY/TDD calls and reaches callers in other languages through a contracted interpretation line, and the center holds international accreditation as a public safety answering point. An administrative services division under a captain groups records, evidence and property, supply and procurement, and information technology. The Records Section keeps offense, arrest and traffic files; in 2025 it logged 4,842 warrants and 3,889 citations, served 2,018 subpoenas and received 2,224 new civil papers. Criminal history reports need an in-person visit and a signed consent form, and civilian applicant fingerprinting is offered at the Evans substation on weekdays and at the detention center at any hour. Open records requests move through an online portal, and anyone asking for a crash report must attach a statement of need. Other parts of the office cover criminal investigations, patrol, special operations with court services and homeland security, professional standards and a regional training center, along with community programs such as Explorer Post 63, Project Lifesaver, Neighborhood Watch and a citizens academy.
