The Grundy County Sheriff's Office provides 24-hour law enforcement from Grundy Center for the rural, unincorporated parts of Grundy County, Iowa, and also polices Dike, Reinbeck, Wellsburg, Beaman, Conrad, Holland, Morrison and Stout under contract. Deputies answer both routine and emergency calls in those areas and patrol every part of the county. The office houses the county's Emergency Management Agency and the Grundy County Jail, issues permits to buy and carry firearms, and belongs to the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force, a multi-agency effort aimed at methamphetamine use, manufacturing, trafficking and the violence tied to it. Its civil division serves papers issued by state and district courts, attorneys and members of the public, enforces writs such as evictions, levies and replevins, and holds sheriff's sales covering personal and real property that stem from court judgments, foreclosed mortgages and distress warrants issued by the Iowa Department of Revenue. In condemnation cases, staff summon the commissioners, take them to the property and notify every interested party. Residents can also request jail record checks, crash reports for cases deputies investigated and public fingerprinting.
