Carlisle Police Department

Partnering with residents to cut crime and make town life better is the stated goal of the Carlisle Police Department in Massachusetts, which emphasizes fair, courteous service, public safety and the protection of individual rights. Its sworn staff includes sergeants, a detective, full-time patrol officers and part-time officers, and one patrol officer also handles animal control. In that role, the officer enforces dog licensing and vaccination rules, state law and town bylaws, investigates complaints about dog behavior and may testify before the town's governing board when owners refuse to comply. Officers trained as certified child passenger safety technicians install and inspect car seats by appointment, with a form to complete beforehand. The RUOK telephone reassurance program places an automated call each day at a set time, and police check on anyone who does not answer; the Council on Aging handles sign-ups. Copies of reports and log entries are available by email or form and can be delivered by email, mail or pickup at the station, and under M.G.L. c. 66, § 10, the department has 10 business days to respond. Traffic studies for several town roads are also posted for residents.
