Marysville's police department in St. Clair County, Michigan has served the city since 1920 and patrols an area of more than seven square miles, with sixteen sworn officers, two records staff and several public safety cadets. Although the department is small, it plugs into several county partnerships. Its officers serve on a Special Response Team run with the Port Huron Police Department and on a drug task force with the St. Clair County Sheriff, and the department also handles crisis negotiations, computer crimes investigations, major crimes, commercial vehicle enforcement and bicycle patrol. With Port Huron, the city backs the C.A.P.T.U.R.E. anonymous tip line, short for Crime Awareness and Prevention Through a Unified Reporting Effort, whose volunteer association of police, businesses, media, utilities and prosecutors can pay rewards of up to $1,000 for tips leading to arrests. The Records Division answers Freedom of Information Act requests and handles background checks, bicycle licenses, gun purchase permits and registrations, ink and electronic fingerprinting, preliminary breath tests and crash reports. Residents can also volunteer through CAPS, Citizens Assisting Public Safety, and find addiction, domestic violence and personal protection order resources through the department.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Marysville city, MI has an estimated population of 9,942.
