Conway Police Department

Safety, security and service is the motto of the Conway Police Department in New Hampshire, which aims for professional, impartial and solution-oriented policing and works with schools, community groups and businesses to keep this White Mountains resort town safe for residents and tourists. Patrol officers answer everything from parking complaints to serious crimes, and every recruit passes a background investigation, written, psychological and fitness tests, a polygraph or voice stress exam and an oral board, then spends 16 weeks at the state Police Standards and Training Council academy followed by 12 weeks of field training. Detectives investigate felonies and complex misdemeanors, run applicant background checks and work drug cases with the Attorney General's Drug Task Force. A police prosecutor handles misdemeanor and violation cases in the 3rd Circuit Court's District Division in Conway, aided by a victim witness advocate and guided by the Carroll County Attorney's Office. Civilian dispatchers send police, fire and medical units in Conway and provide fire and medical dispatch for Albany, Eaton and part of Madison. Crash report copies cost $10. Since July 14, 1969, an elected Police Commission has overseen the department, appointing personnel and setting pay under RSA 105-C:4.
