New Hampshire's capital city is policed by the Concord Police Department, which provides direct and support police services to residents and to the many people who work in and visit Concord each day. Its Community Resource Unit organizes crime prevention and community programs for clubs, schools, churches, businesses, senior citizens and neighborhood groups, through crime awareness lessons, school programs and joint police-community projects grounded in community policing. The unit also aims to give young people the skills to resist peer pressure and make responsible decisions. Specialty units range from the ceremonial Honor Guard to tactical and enforcement teams whose officers receive specialized training and equipment. The Records Division releases police reports, photographs and related items for a processing fee, and requesters may visit the station, write or email with the date, location, parties and report number if known. Pistol permit forms now come from the New Hampshire Department of Safety rather than the station. The department posts an annual crime report, its use of force, fair and impartial policing and citizen complaint policies, a no trespass order form and updates on the new police station project.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Concord city, NH has an estimated population of 44,219.
