Jacksonville Police Department

Teamwork with residents is at the center of the Jacksonville Police Department's mission in North Carolina, and its Community Services Division divides the city into four sectors, each with a community officer who handles neighborhood concerns, supports community events, helps businesses and residents secure property and gives public safety briefings. Officers visit schools and groups for informal question-and-answer sessions about public safety, deliver safety presentations that include CRASE training on civilian response to active shooter events, assess sites using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and lead station tours of the Department of Public Safety. Through the CARE Program, senior citizens and others who need regular check-ins can sign up for automated welfare calls on a schedule they choose, and if a subscriber does not answer, a telecommunicator follows up and sends an officer. A Help Me Home registry gives emergency responders confidential details about people with cognitive impairments who may wander. Students ages 14 to 20 can join a public safety Explorer Program, and residents can file reports, search recent arrests and calls for service and request a residential security watch online.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Jacksonville city, NC has an estimated population of 73,507.
