Located off Interstate 70 between Dayton and Columbus, Ohio, the Clark County Sheriff's Office handles a full range of law enforcement work through divisions for administration, civil work, criminal investigations, jail and court services, uniform patrol, community services and professional standards. Its core jobs are preserving the peace, carrying out court orders, securing the courthouse and running the county jail. The community services list ranges from concealed carry licensing, Project Lifesaver, drug take-back days, an honor guard and an Explorer post to environmental services, WebCheck fingerprinting, real estate sales, civil service and pick-ups, and Shop with a Cop. The office brought D.A.R.E. into its schools in 1988, and its D.A.R.E. deputies teach at elementary and high schools during the year and run the Safety Village program each summer for children about to start kindergarten. School resource officer deputies were added to raise patrol presence and security in local school districts; they partner with each district's administration and staff, can make arrests and answer calls for service, and act as a link between the schools and the sheriff's office. Everyone receives these services equally, without discrimination.
