The Marion County Sheriff's Office is the countywide law enforcement agency for Marion County, Ohio, and its current pages describe a range of programs that go beyond patrol. Through Project Lifesaver, specially trained deputies use radio tracking equipment to find people with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism or similar conditions who wander from home, each enrolled client wearing a small wristband transmitter. The S.O.S. Watch program, part of the office's "Good Neighbor" approach to community policing, has deputies check in regularly on enrolled seniors and residents with special needs, and a deputy can also complete a home safety evaluation. Since 2020 the Marion Victim Assistance Program has operated as a division of the office, offering crisis intervention, court advocacy and claims help to crime victims across the county. The office also issues Ohio concealed handgun licenses under R.C. 2923.125, processes BCI and FBI WebCheck background checks, and runs foreclosure sheriff sales online. Residents can sign up for Hyper-Reach alerts by text or email, and the Multi-County Correctional Center in Marion County participates in VINE victim notification.
