In Benton County the sheriff also oversees animal control. Under Oregon law the sheriff is the county's conservator of the peace and its chief executive law enforcement officer, executing court process and orders and serving warrants delivered by other public officers. A Civil Division prepares court documents for service and enforces court orders under Oregon statutes and civil procedure rules. The office also processes concealed handgun licenses, and its volunteer Reserves offer non-criminal fingerprinting.
