Kane County Sheriff's Office

The Kane County Sheriff's Office runs a 911 communication center that dispatches police, fire and medical units not only across Kane County but also into northern Coconino County, Arizona, using Next Generation 911 and a multi-jurisdictional radio network. Every deputy starts in the patrol division, the office's largest and most visible unit, which answers emergency and routine calls around the clock and also handles civil process, court security and traffic enforcement. Two K-9 teams are certified for human searches, drug detection and apprehension, a SWAT unit stands ready for critical incidents, and detectives on the Major Crimes and Drug Task Force investigate major crimes countywide and lend equipment and expertise to neighboring agencies. The civil section sells property under court order and carries out evictions. At the Kanab jail, a magistrate sets bail within 24 hours of booking, and the office's Pretrial Services unit works with the county attorney and the 6th District and Kane County Justice Courts to release qualifying defendants under the least restrictive conditions and monitor their compliance.
