The Anoka County Sheriff's Office in Minnesota has served Anoka County since the county was founded in 1857. In 1860 the frontier county counted 2,106 residents spread among a few settlements, and a lone sheriff handled all law enforcement. Today the office employs roughly 300 staff and volunteers and serves 21 urban and rural cities with a combined population of 351,373. The current sheriff is the 18th to hold the post. The office maintains a cold-case homicide program and publishes information on unsolved investigations. It also uses Flock cameras in its patrol areas and offers a public Flock transparency portal explaining how that technology works, along with guidance on calls about warrants, fines and bail.
