Bloomington Police Department

Respect is a core value of the Bloomington Police Department in Minnesota, whose lobby is open during weekday business hours. Its Community Brain Health Services program, launched in 2023, places licensed therapists and supervised graduate interns inside the department, and they offer up to 15 free counseling sessions in homes, schools, community spaces or virtual settings. Volunteers at least 20 years old can join the police reserves after an in-house academy and give about 10 hours a month to non-criminal duties such as business and park checks, motorist assists, traffic control at events and searches. Officers host a monthly Bingo gathering with residents and run a free Business Watch program for local companies, and people can attach a 911 safety alert to an address so responders have key details before they arrive. When a Level 3 predatory offender moves into the city, the department holds a community notification under the state registration and notification laws, Minnesota Statutes sections 243.166 and 244.052. Officers record with body-worn and squad cameras under a department general order that sets out when recording is required.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS 2023), Bloomington city, MN has an estimated population of 88,838.
