Boone County Sheriff's Office

The Boone County Sheriff's Office is the largest law enforcement agency in Boone County, Illinois. Sheriff Scott Yunk is the chief law enforcement officer, charged with protecting lives and property and enforcing federal and state laws and county ordinances in unincorporated areas. By policy the Sheriff does not routinely enforce laws inside municipalities that have their own police departments unless requested. The office shares the Public Safety Building in Belvidere with the Belvidere Police Department while remaining operationally independent.
