Burgaw Police Department

Preserving peace and safety while building positive contact between residents and officers is the stated mission of the Burgaw Police Department in North Carolina. The department is organized into patrol, supervised by a sergeant and a corporal and including a K9 team, and support services, where detectives and school resource officers work. Through the R U Ok? program, a staff member phones home-bound residents, seniors and others who live alone one to three days a week; if no contact is made, a patrol officer goes to the home or a relative is called. Officers set up tents at festivals and community days, the department takes part in the Statewide Traffic Enforcement Program, certified technicians inspect child safety seats, and a trailer funded through a Governor's Highway Safety Program grant supports DWI checkpoints and event outreach.
