Clay County Drug Task Force

The Clay County Drug Task Force is the narcotics-enforcement unit of the Clay County Sheriff's Office, based at 12 South Water Street in Liberty, Missouri, in the Kansas City metro. The unit investigates illegal drug trafficking and related street crime in Clay County. In July 2025 the Sheriff's Office merged the Drug Squad and Special Operations Squad into the Street Crimes Unit, which continues that mission by targeting narcotics distribution, illegal firearms, and violent street crime. Sheriff Will Akin leads the office. Residents who suspect drug activity can submit a Suspected Narcotics Activity Report on the Sheriff's Office website; those reports go to the Drug Task Force and Street Crimes Unit for review. Call the Street Crimes Unit at 816-407-3280. For emergencies, call 911. The Sheriff's Office non-emergency line is 816-407-3700.
