The DFW Airport Department of Public Safety is the in-house public safety agency of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, and its police division handles law enforcement across the airport's roughly 27 square miles of terminals, runways, roadways, cargo areas and commercial property. The airport itself straddles Dallas and Tarrant counties between Dallas and Fort Worth. DPS combines police, fire rescue, emergency medical response and airport security under one department. On the police side, the work is organized into patrol operations; special operations, which includes the bomb squad, SWAT and traffic enforcement; support services; and criminal investigations. Brian Redburn serves as Chief of Police, and Daniel White leads the fire side as Fire Chief. Department headquarters is at 3600 S. 20th Avenue on airport grounds. For police questions that are not emergencies, call (972) 973-3210; the general DPS line is (972) 973-3533. Travelers and employees who need help right away should dial 911.
