Medina County Sheriff's Office

Headquartered in Medina, Ohio, the Medina County Sheriff's Office sends road patrol deputies across the county to answer calls for service, investigate crashes, enforce traffic law, back up other agencies and check on homes while residents are away. Newly hired deputies spend 12 weeks in field training before patrolling on their own. A Bicycle Patrol Unit works parades and community events, and the office's K-9 teams are certified in narcotics detection, tracking and building searches. Deputies also serve on a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team with the Medina, Wadsworth, Montville Township, Hinckley, Brunswick Hills and Brunswick police departments for high-risk warrants, barricaded subjects and hostage calls. The Detective Bureau takes on homicides, burglaries, sexual assaults, fraud and forgery cases, and a lobby drop box for unwanted medications is paid for by the county anti-drug levy. A Corrections Division operates the county jail, and the communications center answers 9-1-1 and dispatches police agencies and fire departments countywide. From the county courthouse, the Civil Division serves summonses, evictions and protection orders and conducts sheriff's foreclosure sales. Youth programs include the Medina County Police Activities League, the free Take Control teen driving class and Law Enforcement Explorer Post 2552.
