Hooper was elected Nueces County Sheriff on November 3, 2020. He is a lifetime resident of Nueces County. His law enforcement career started with the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office as a Jailer in 1981 and then the Port Aransas Police Department before joining the Corpus Christi Police Department in 1983. He worked for the Corpus Christi Police Department for 35 years in the patrol division, training division and the criminal investigations division.
