Salem State University Police Department

The Salem State University Police Department serves every Salem State University campus in Salem, Massachusetts. Its officers hold powers, authority and responsibilities equal to those of municipal police officers in the Commonwealth, complete full-time police academies, and receive periodic in-service and specialized training. Along with patrol, the department provides medical emergency response, crime prevention education, parking and traffic support, and lost-and-found. It enforces local, state and federal law along with university rules, and it shares information on known or suspected criminal activity with local and state police. People can reach the department by phone, at its station on Central Campus, or through blue-light emergency telephones on all campuses. The department also publishes guidance on active shooter situations and on domestic violence resources.
