SP Idaho Falls

Idaho State Police District 6 is the state police command for Eastern Idaho, directed from a district headquarters in Idaho Falls. Its territory takes in Madison, Bonneville, Jefferson, Fremont, Teton, Clark, Butte, Custer and Lemhi counties. As in every ISP district, the work is split between a Patrol Division and an Investigation Division. Troopers in marked cars enforce traffic law, assist motorists, teach road safety and respond to and investigate crashes, while other district employees handle commercial vehicle enforcement and support services. District detectives take on cases ranging from homicide, sexual assault and human trafficking to drug trafficking, fraud and critical incidents involving officers, and support county, city and federal agencies. Many troopers serve as Resident Troopers, living in remote communities such as Island Park, Ashton, Driggs, Salmon, Challis and Arco, where they also coach local teams and volunteer at food banks.
