State University College At New Paltz Police

Message from the Office of the Chief On behalf of the men and women of the New York State University Police Department at SUNY New Paltz, we would like to welcome you to our website. The University Police Department (UPD) provides the campus with a full-time, around the clock police agency composed of fully sworn service-oriented, professional police officers committed to the concept of community policing. Community policing is a philosophy of becoming involved with the people we serve, building collaborative partnerships and working together as a team. We are an accredited agency through New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services. This means that our policies and procedures adhere to the highest standards of law enforcement in the state. We do this through fair and impartial enforcement of the laws, crime prevention, safeguarding quality of life and providing assistance to victims of crime. Non-emergency: (845) 257-2222. Dial 911 for emergencies.
