University of Minnesota Duluth Police Department

The University of Minnesota Duluth Police Department, known as UMDPD, is the campus law enforcement agency for the Duluth campus of the University of Minnesota, overlooking Lake Superior in St. Louis County. It is a separate agency from the Twin Cities campus police and does not work for the City of Duluth. Officers are licensed peace officers under the Minnesota POST Board and are trained in crisis intervention and de-escalation. The department is on duty around the clock all year, answering emergency and routine calls and investigating crimes on property the university owns, leases or operates in Duluth, including academic buildings, parking facilities and campus roadways. The neighborhoods and business districts around campus belong to the Duluth Police Department, and UMDPD officers regularly help that agency and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office with patrol and calls nearby. The department's mailing address is 287 Darland Administration Building, 1049 University Drive, Duluth, MN 55812. For general questions call (218) 726-7000 or email [email protected]. For non-emergency police response, call (218) 625-3581, the county's non-emergency dispatch number, and dial 911 in an emergency.
