The Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) In-Service Training is an 8-hour recertification course designed to maintain and reinforce the knowledge, skills, and evaluation proficiency of certified Drug Recognition Experts. Training includes updates relevant to drug-impaired driving enforcement, a written examination, small-matrix reproduction, and, when necessary, a mock drug influence evaluation witnessed by a DRE instructor. The course supports continued proficiency in the systematic detection, evaluation, documentation, and enforcement of drug-impaired driving.
