Headquartered in Prince Frederick, the Calvert County seat, the Calvert County Sheriff's Office keeps deputies on patrol around the clock across the county, with district stations in Dunkirk and Lusby. The agency is organized into five groups. The Patrol Bureau handles first response through three patrol districts and K-9 teams trained for tracking and for narcotics and explosives detection. Under an agreement with Chesapeake Beach and North Beach, the Twin Beaches Patrol assigns deputies to both towns full time. Deputies from across the agency also volunteer for a part-time Bike Patrol team formed in 1997. Criminal Investigations covers detective, drug enforcement, crime scene and evidence work, and its school resource officers work in county schools under an agreement with the Board of Education. Administrative and Judicial Services serves court papers, carries out evictions and sheriff's sales, secures the courthouse, and helps staff the Southern Maryland Criminal Justice Academy, which also trains the Charles and St. Mary's sheriff's offices. The other two groups are a Special Operations and Homeland Security Bureau and the Detention Center, which also runs home detention, pre-trial release and work release. On July 25, 2026, the office earned national accreditation from CALEA.
