Chevy Chase Village Police Department

Officers in Chevy Chase Village, Maryland, patrol their Montgomery County community by car, by bike and on foot, and every Village address now falls inside one of four patrol zones. The Chevy Chase Village Police Department set up the zones after several residents asked in a survey for more patrol presence, and it tracks time spent on patrol, house checks, code enforcement and crime prevention in each zone so it can shift resources where crime or traffic problems grow. The Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 figures estimated 1,978 residents in the town of Chevy Chase Village. The department's state-certified sworn officers work with a Communications Center that civilian staff keep open around the clock, where residents can arrange house checks, special pick-ups, parking permits and alarm registrations, or file emergency contacts for the police to use only in a crisis. Alongside Montgomery County and nearby cities, the Village uses the Safe Speed program, with four fixed cameras: a vehicle going 12 mph or more over the limit is photographed, and a Village photo analyst reviews each case before a citation goes out by mail; since October 2025, maximum fines have run from $40 to $425.
